5.1 Part 2
“This is the plan,” continued Maurice cleaning his throat, “since there are more than thirty kilometers to Versailles, we will go to the main road and jump onto the passing carriages without being seen! And in this way we will get to our destination in full strength! Understood?”
“Meow!!!” Answered the feline crowd and without further delay, they disappeared in the dark night.
Only Merlin and Maurice remained there.
“Now what?” Asked Merlin, who was totally lost.
“Now, mon ami, we will go out and get on the cart of a high member of the militia. In that way, we will be able to penetrate the palace without being seen!”
“Ok, any suggestion?”
“This is the plan… you will go out and lie flat on the floor, meowing as if you were very ill, when they to rescue you, I will jump onto the cart.”
Merlin did not like the idea, at all!!! It was risky, what if they roll him over with the cart? What if they were cruel and killed him?
Anyway, he had no choice, he needed the help of the gang… so, he headed to the road with heavy feet, and threw himself face up on the road, moaning as if he was badly hurt.
It was no long until a carriage approached him.
“Hey mate!! What’s that on the road?” Shouted a general. “ It looks like a cat! A dying cat!
“Don’t stop!” Said his companion, “leave him to die there, it is very dangerous to stop here!!!”
“Meowwwwwww, meowwwww!!!” Whimpered Merlin to the top of his voice in despair.
“MMM, let me see,” Whispered the General, “my kids always wanted a cat, maybe he is not so hurt…” and not paying attention to his companion, he stopped the carriage and got off holding his sword in his hand.
Merlin was meowing nonstop, and looked at the man with begging eyes.
“Oh!!! You are cute! What is the problem with you? I don’t see any wound… maybe you are only scared? Come on, come with daddy, I’ll take you home! “And the general bended on his knees and picked him up tenderly.
In the meantime, Maurice had sneaked on the back part of the cart and was ready for the long trip.
They travelled all night long and as soon as the first morning light twinkled on the horizon and the shinning gates of the palace of Versailles shone before their eyes, Merlin and Maurice jumped off the carriage.
