7.1 Part 2

“There is the river Seine.” Whispered Maurice, “Now, we need to get on a boat! The question is how!!”

“Leave it to me” Said Merlin, and jumped down to the street.

He landed on a cobbled road and pretended to be injured.

“Meow… meowwwww… meowwwwww” He began to whine and whimper as if he was in pain rolling on his back. He wanted to attract the attention of the sailors, who, by the way were quite drunk.

“Oh, buddy!” Said Pierre, who was so drunk that could barely walk, “Tough luck, eh? You fell off the roof?”

“Meow” answered Merlin looking at him with begging eyes that could have even melted ice.

“Uf… if I leave you here, you will be rolled over by a carriage, you’d better come with old Pierre” And Pierre bended over and took Merlin in his arms. “You see, I am going to the boat, don’t you worry, you will come with me to Le Havre, I need some company, and you need someone to take care of you, it’s a win, win” And he started laughing out loud.

Merlin, winked his eye to his feline friends and they started following the sailor from the roofs.

Fortunately, all the other sailors on the boat, had been drinking too, so they didn’t notice Pierre or any of the stowaways enter the ship.

“Here, here!” Ordered Maurice, “Behind these sacks of wheat! We sure find some juicy mice to dine!”

The following day, at first light, Merlin woke up next to a stinky sailor… Among shouts and too much bustle, all the crew began to move and the ship sailed towards Le Havre. Although cats hate water… the experience was no so traumatic and in two days they were at their final destination.

The Sally was astonishingly beautiful, so, it was not difficult to Merlin to figure out which ship it was.

“That’s the Sally, mates!” All aboard!!” Shouted our hero, and the full gang of cats and kittens ran at the speed of light and boarded the magnificent American ship. “Hey, Sam!! Mission accomplished!”

Sam waved the kittens and winked at Merlin, who was shaking hands with his companion, Maurice.

“Are you coming back to Paris?” Asked Maurice.

“I think I will accompany the kittens to America… It has been a pleasure to work with you.”

And Merlin took an acrobatic leap to board the ship but just then, while he was still in the air… he was caughed by a big whirlwind.

“Ahhhhhhhh!!!! What’s going on?” Shouted Merlin and in no time he was lying in the middle of the school yard.
